HISTORIC WILLIMANTIC
Takashi Okada
9/22/2008 I did a presentation on the basis of her e-mail. I explained the purpose of this tour, vocabulary and so on.9/24/2008 We congregated in front of the GraduateCenter and took a van. After it had taken about 20 minutes, we arrived at the museum in Willimantic. As soon as we arrived at the museum, the museum staff arrived at the museum too. Her name is Bev.
We chose a Willimantic tour for our subject because we found that Willimantic is famous for fabric and textiles.
We sent an e-mail to the museum but we didn't receive an answer. We reported this to my teacher, Sally. She called the museum and made an appointment. She sent an e-mail of details to us.
We paid the admission fee, $3.00, and entered the museum. In the museum, Bev explained the history and lifestyle of laborers, managers and the process of marking fabric and textiles, sewing, making thread and the legend of the frogs. We saw old sewing machines and then rooms, old clothes and so on. After her explanation had finished, we walked around the fabric factory with her.
When we had finished everything, we had some time. So we walked in Willimantic downtown by Sally's proposal. I found monuments of frogs. Then we went back UCONN.
I enjoyed the history of Willimantic but I felt I should have studied more.
Sally, thank you for everything. I think I couldn't finish this tour without your help.
